Why Do Short-Term Rentals Matter in Chatham?
Back in 2019, the town was aghast at the restrictive zoning laws that administration was trying to push through. The silver lining of that board's overreach was bringing locals and second-home owners together in solidarity to fight those laws!
One of the bigger issues was that of short-term rentals (STRs), something Maria Lull's administration wanted to ban entirely from our town.
In this video, Vance Pitkin explains why our little town needs STRs, both for our businesses and for our locals who need lodging options for visiting family and friends. Plus, many residents use that income to help them offset the price of property and school taxes.
